How it works / measurements
Acoustic panels are available in many shapes from many different manufactures. They all work in pretty much the same way, a high density board of foam (oil based) or glass fiber (sand based) is providing the damping. Glass fiber panels are usually covered with some textile or paper due to the harmful fibers.

On the other hand we use full organic hemp based boards, totally safe and harmless to your health in any way. By using our product you help your environment by reducing CO2 by not using oil or heavy processing and you even reduce the CO2 due to the fact that hemp is natural grown, without any chemicals.

Our panels are long life, in contrast to foam our panels will not lose their ability to reduce sound over time.

The density of the hemp insulation is 35kg/m3, better than many of our unhealthy / none eco competitors, which gives good absorption in the area of 150Hz and up.

As you can see from the graph, I didn’t have much reverberation in my living room (blue line), the reverberation time never goes over 0.6 seconds, 0.6 seconds is low by any standards. But what I did have was pre echo artifacts, when I clapped my hands in the room I could easily hear a ringing sound. Using only four panels made the pre echo artifacts disappear. As you can see in the graph (green line), the reverberation is now much more linear. This propagates in a calmer more controlled sound, free from ringing and artifacts.

Whether your room is small or big there might be a great chance that you benefit from this room treatment.

A few words from the designer, Emelie Fras.
We want to promote fair-trade and the use of environmentally friendly materials so we use hemp in the making of this panel.

The hemp plant is an astounding plant with huge potential to contribute to a more sustainable future. Industrial hemp can be used to produce fabric, paper, building material, plastic and fuel.

The hemp plant will grow pretty much anywhere the sun shines and without the use of polluting pesticides. The growing plant takes up carbon dioxide and in return releases oxygen. The long roots of the plant improve and nourish the soil. If hemp was to be grown on larger scales it would help massively to reduce global warming and the increasing threat of climate change we face today.

The canvas used for the cover is 100% organic hemp, made in Europe using traditional methods to avoid pesticides and chemicals.

People are usually not aware of the huge negative impact the cotton industry has on our environment. The cotton on the market today has been sprayed, dipped and dyed with toxic chemicals at every stage of production. Compared to cotton, one acre of hemp will produce 2-3 times more fiber and the hemp cloth is a lot stronger and will last longer.

The insulation is made with 80% hemp and 20% recycled cotton. This is a great alternative to the irritant fiber glass insulation or the oil-based foam that you will find in existing acoustic-panels currently on the market.

The natural, untreated finish looks great on any wall, but the canvas cover has been designed so it’s easily removed from the frame. This gives you the option to make it more personalised if you so wish. If you think the plain canvas look a bit dull and want to get creative, then simply undo the strings and gently push out one of the corners to release from frame and you are free to do what you like!

Just remember;
Hand-wash in cool water is recommended. Then carefully put the cover back onto the frame whilst it’s still damp in order to re-stretch it. If it doesn’t quite turn out the way you wished, don’t worry, you can always buy a new cover from us.
